The History of Oktoberfest in Germany

Oktoberfest is a yearly German festival that dates back to 1810. It’s celebrated in Munich, Bavaria, and it’s the world’s largest fair.

Oktoberfest is important because it brings people together from around the world to celebrate the tradition of German beer, food, music, and culture.

The history of Oktoberfest starts with a wedding celebration in 1810. The king of Bavaria married Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen on October 12th and invited all of his subjects to join him for a royal wedding celebration. The citizens were also invited to bring their own food and drinks which led to an impromptu festival that was held on October 17th.

This event became known as “Wiesn” which means “meadow”

Oktoberfest Traditions & Customs

Oktoberfest is a traditional Bavarian festival that has been celebrated since 1810. It is the world’s largest fair and is held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. The event lasts 16 days and is typically attended by more than six million people, making it the world’s largest fair.
